A Loving Message to Gen Z

My friends, there is so much negativity and hate in this world we live in. It seems every generation thinks they have it all figured out and believe “these kids today” have no clue. As a millennial, I have been on the receiving end of this hurtful narrative plenty of times, and here’s what I’ve learned.
Every generation’s struggles are unique, and we are all the way we are because of our schema. That is, we think and perceive things the way we do because of our personal experiences and upbringing. We shouldn’t judge one another because we truly don’t know what another person has been through or what they were taught during their formative years.
My generation has been called lazy, entitled, spoiled, and more. I see the same being said about gen Z, and it bothers me. My friends, you are awakening like no generation before you ever has. A life devoting yourself to greedy corporate overlords for pennies on the dollar while those at the top make millions is not appealing to you, and I say thank goodness for that!
Life is about so much more. It’s about compassion, building relationships, finding your passions, and making the world a better place for others. If you don’t want to work an 8-5 in a cubicle for the next 40 plus years of your life, then you are evolving. You may have yet to figure out exactly what your place is in this world, but you are awakened enough to know there is more to life than what our culture has taught us. What a beautiful place to be!
Don’t let the naysayers put you down for it.
They try to say none of you like to work, but they couldn’t be more wrong. You are just ready to put in a different kind of work, the spiritual kind. You see what greed has done to the world and you do not turn a blind eye to the harsh misfortunes that others must bear or the irreparable harm that’s being done to our planet.
You have the power to inspire others, to make a real difference. You are being called upon to move this planet from darkness to light, and I am rooting for you. Please keep questioning, keep pushing for change, and keep discovering. The world needs you.
Sending a virtual hug!
Laura
